CLASH OF CLANS | FIRST CHINESE NEW YEAR COMMERCIAL
In 2018 I had the chance to work on the Clash of Clans Lunar New Year campaign, one of the most popular mobile game of all time. It was the largest campaign ever for China.
The main theme of the campaign was "On the Road" as during this period more than 400 million Chinese go back to their hometown and travel an average of 500km. This is the largest human migration.
The film follows one of the most iconic character of the game the Hog Rider and is filled with eater eggs and references to Chinese culture.
The film was posted on the main Clash of Clans Youtube channel (13M subscribers) and gathered more than 8M+ views and 140k+ with absolutely 0 media budget.
The campaign also included billboards in airports and subway stations which are especially crowded during this period.
On top of the main animation film, we also produced a music video with local band "Escape Plan" following their winter tour in the North of China. We created special in-game challenges on both Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. Finally we wrote a second animated movie for Clash Royale with a side-story focusing on a missing hog.
